1. moh2050 Says: hello

i would like to know if will driving in high speed
is it harmfull to the gear box if i chang to N and back to D
2. Doug Says: nothing will happen dont suggest excelerating during this though.
3. TL Says: no
4. billy25685 Says: There is no reason to put your car in neutral at high speed. Unless your motor dies, in which case you throw the tranny in neutral and start braking to the side of the road.
Anybody who at high speed likes to throw it in N and then back to D deserves whatever happens to them and their car.
5. randyrayd Says: I wouldn't do it repetitively.

Now, if you are accelerating and popping it back and forth, Drive to Neutral, so it sounds like you have a five speed and your getting scratch between gears, then it will tear the heck out of the transmission.
6. bobweb Says: No, your owner's manual does not say it's harmful and you can shift between drive, overdrive and neutral as you wish at highway speeds from my learning and experience.
7. MJ Says: my dad used to have a saab 9000 auto and he did exactly that and it knackered the torque converter. still drove but it vibrated like hell. if u do go into n id stop before putting it back into d. all depends on what car you have i guess but i wouldnt tempt fate. get a manual car much more fun and less to go wrong :)
