Will putting an air cleaner (foam type) into the freezer help your engine get colder air and run better?

1. Jesse Says: Jesse
The real purpose of the air cleaner is to filter out the impurities of the outside air entering into the intake system.
The top of the line air cleaner is the K&N units being sold at any major automotive parts stores and they are fantastic even if you need a bit better fuel mileage.
Since summer is coming and you are concerned about colder air inside your car then all you have to do is to have your A/C completely cleaned out and recharged at a nominal fee because who needs to be hot and sweaty inside any vehicle when the temperatures are 90+ F ever summer day.my final advice is get it fixed as soon as possible. chevyman john in san diego,ca
2. lwr735 Says: nope. when the air cleaner heats up, all the water that condensated from freezing will melt and go straight into your carb/throttle body.
3. Skag Baron Savage Henry Says: it will only stay cold for a few minutes, then the condensation will go into your cylinders, and water will not compress in the engine. Bad idea !
4. PaulParkins Says: Not to brilliant. After you put it in your car and start it within about 5 minutes it will be the same as the outside temperature because of the volume of air going through it. Not a very bright question. Are you sure you should be driving a car on the road with other drivers?
5. Teddybearalso Says: is this some sort of joke???
