1. scorp Says: I was driving from Fresno to San Francisco and my low oil light came up i was in a hurry so i dumbly decided to not stop and buy some oil until i got to SF so i kept going right when i arrived to SF the Check Engine light came up now i know that its bad to drive a car with low oil but i didnt drive it for that long with low oil and how much would it be to fix or is a simple fix? These cars tend to burn oil alot the car i have is a 2001 Trans Am so i know that its common for ls1 engine to burn oil.
2. Whoa D Says: Umm, first thing you need to do is get a trouble code. Go to autozone and they do it for free. Then it will tell you the most probably cause of the code. And since you know the events that caused it, you should be able to easily determine the fix.
3. lwr735 Says: Scorp
Its your fault for stretching your car due to a low oil condition.
The cause of oil loss are the following over looked areas.
main engine bearings bad or worn out
rear main sels cracked or broken or the front seals are also broken too.
worn piston rings or oil control rings are worn out.
The solution is to have the entire engine replaced or buy a car without that headache in the dash board aka computer control command for relief and peace of mind.By the way the GM car line pontiac is dead as of 1/1/2010 mr. obama says so.
4. Matt Says: You do know what will happen if you drive a car that's warning you about oil right? Eventually the thing powering that car, called an engine, will basically heat up and then freeze into one solid piece. The crank will no longer turn and you can say goodbye to Mr. Engine.
