1. Sundevil13 Says: I own 2 Monte Carlo's, a 1984 (Standard-Base Model) and a 1985 SS. The '84 doesn't have a engine or tranny (Just the shell and the frame). A couple of summer's ago during Monsoon season here in Phx.,Az...... During a bad storm, an old tree from my neighbor's yard toppled over and landed on my '85 SS crushing the top part of my car (Cab area). The top of the shell is non repairable but I decided to keep the car for the part's and most of all because of the strong engine that it has. Question is.. CAN I TAKE THE SHELL FROM THE '85 SS OFF IT'S FRAME AND REPLACE IT WITH MY '84 SHELL. SINCE THE FRAME IS A G-BODY TYPE FOR ALL THE 4TH GENERATION MONTE'S IS IT POSSIBLE TO SWAP THEM.
2. Mad Jack Says: I don't believe the 84 or 85 Monte Carlo has a full frame. They are constructed like most other modern cars. They are unibody with both front and rear sub frames. The center section is a structural part of the car.

There is not much difference between these two fourth gerneration Monte Carlo's. I see no reason why you could not make one good car from the two.

The VIN will always keep the base model a base model. However I would try to use as many of the SS parts as possible and turn the base model into an SS clone.
3. Dr. Douchebag Says: there might be a few minor snags but it probably would bolt rite up
