89 F600 Gas to Diesel Swap?

1. Mr. Says: My brother and I have an 89 f600 dump truck with a 370 gas and a 5/2 speed. We would like to do a Cummins swap or maybe a DT466 or something of that nature. Anyone knowledgable when it comes to these swaps and can give me a short rundown of what this will incur? Or are there any other diesel engines that may work better and be less costly and/or maybe even bolt up to our transmission. FordCummins.com has nothing, either. Thanks.

2. Tim B Says: It can be done.

The engine and tranny mounts may have to be modified.

The clutch linkage will probably have to be modified also.

If the engine needs sensors and controllers those will have to be considered too.

A 7.3 diesel with matching tranny might have bolted right in with minimal modifications.
