87-99 f-250 turns over but no spark?
(2010-05-30 11:28:29) 1. Says: was used for plowing and justed stoped2. Says: it turns over so that means your battery is charged and your starter is turning so you've eliminated those. your ignition switch seems to be working other possibilities include: bad fuel pump, fuel pump relay, clogged fuel screen, crank sensor, cam sensor, air flow sensor, power relay, engine computer, timing chain etc. an intermitent starting problem may be computer related as i am having with my 2001 impala. i would have someone check the computer with a diagnostic tester before replacing a ton of parts that may not be bad to begin with. it could be just a pin or corrosion. If you need to replace the computer- Don't get a used or lkq computer- you have to get a brand new one coded to your cars exact vin # or you will have many more problems....3. Says: Bad coil or a bad ignition module.4. Says: Well I would have to say since you stated there is no spark you can rule out all of the fuel problems stated in the post before me since spark and fuel don't have anything to do with each other till they go into the cylinder... You wont have spark because your fuel filter is clogged... I would check to see if the coils are good and have voltage. If so then the computer does not know when to ground the circuit to cause a spark. Start thinking sensor issues. Cam and/or crank sensors.******Also it won't be a neutral safety switch due to that would cause a no crank issue and not a no spark issue.*****5. Says: It would be either your ignition module or the nuetral safety starter switch get a repair manual and do some reading you can pick one up at a parts store along with the new parts. And the book will tell you how to install it and locate it in the system.
