How long can Air stay in a Fuel Line?

There are Two Wires goign to that connector (??) on my Jaguar, but i think that is only if i was using both Pumps. Im not, for now..

Should i turn the "T" into Straight?

1985 Jaguar XJ6, Pump bolted straight to the Metal but also Noisy and perhaps the Filter is the wrong one..
