What should I do if I put ethanol blend gas in my car by mistake?
(2010-05-30 11:50:58) 1. Says: I added approximately 5 gallons of ethanol blend gas to my 16 gallon gasoline engine car. What should I do?2. Says: All engines built since 1970 can use the 10% ethanol blended fuels with no problems or modifications. A carbureted engine may need an adjustment to take full advantage of the fuel.Don't worry and drive safely.3. Says: Flush it...why? I don't think the computer of your car is programmed to properly mix that kind of fuel.
How? Depending on the manufacturer i've heard many ways, from unscrewing a bold in the gas tank to drain it, disconnect the main gas line from somewhere and use 12v source to turn on the gas pump, and the oldest way...use a short hose and blow hard LOL. Type Flushing gas tank on any search engine you'll see a lot of results.4. Says: % gals. of ethanol should not hurt it. If you look closely at the gas pumps. Some gas places with those great prices add as much as !0% ethanol already. Thats how they can sell it cheaper. I from time to time run !0% blend in my truck. And have no problems.5. Says: If you mean E85 then drain it if your car wasn't designed to run on it, most gas these days have ethanol in it anyway, so Im not sure what you mean by blend. you'd be amazed how much stuff they blend into gasoline claiming cleaner more MPG bla bla bla.6. Says: Drive it, but expect a little lower performance and lower gas mileage. Use it up and get some real gas next fill up. Remember where the blend came from and don't buy any more of it. I got some of that crap and my car acted like it lost half its power and the gas mileage dropped from 33 mpg to 24 mpg. The fuel didn't hurt the engine though.
