My check engine light came on and im confused?

(2010-05-30 11:54:39)
1. Colton Says: the check engine light came on and said it was the o2 sensor bank 1 well i replaced it and now it came back on and there saying its saying the same thing i have a 2000 mitsubishi galant v6
2. Paul Says: There are probably2 sensors in bank 1 --sensor 1 and sensor 2. Make sure you replaced the correct sensor in bank 1. Also the most common issue with the 02 sensor is the heater circuit inside the sensor. Also the computer codes must be cleared. Disconnecting the battery is not always effective. That is why it is better to pay a qualified technician to diagnose and repair the issue and GUARANTEE their repair and diagnosis.
3. Alfonzo Says: Obviously it's not the O2 sensor.
The person that decided that it was bad, made a bad call OR they forgot to reset the computer's diagnostic system.
Take your car to a qualified mechanic to properly diagnose this situation.
4. carguy Says: Sometimes the problem is somewhere other than where the scanner tells you. It could be in the wiring or the computer itself. I would take it in to a mechanic and have them take a look. It is possible the new sensor is bad but I've watched too many people change the same part multiple times only to eventually find out something else is causing that code to come up. The scanners used at parts stores can be very helpful but can't replace an experienced professional.
5. bandit_60 Says: nothing confusing about that. you said you change it and the light came back on? it will continue coming back on until you get the codes cleared.
