(2010-05-30 11:58:53) 1. Says: can I have 2 of the valves on a 89 fleetwood shut down to make it a v6. or can i have a v6 engine put it? Yes or no, and why?2. Says: no....and no.....well technically u could put a v-6 in it but mileage would b worse.....same thing as the mid 80s v-6 camaros and firebirds.....the motor was too small for cars weight so v-8s actually got better mileage(as long as u kept ur foot out of it)
as for turning off 2 of the cylinders waste since engine would still need to rotate the mass of those pistons.....3. Says: you can make definitely put a six cylinder engine in but their is no possible way to turn an eight into a six that's just ridiculous besides how does one have a caddy without an 8 cylinder4.
