Jeep door won't open from inside or outside door handle?
(2010-05-30 12:10:53) 1. Says: Jeep door won't open from inside or outside door handle. I don't know if anything came loose from the door latch and I cant see the latch without the door open. What do I do about getting it open?2. Says: The lever came loose. It needs be re-attached. I have had to do that manually and it requires going into the door.3. Says: Pull it in to your local auto body shop. I bet they can tell you right away!4. Says: You take off the inside door panel by removing the screws and any attachments like window cranks and lock knobs; then pull it starting from a corner and popping the attaching pins one at a time until the whole thing is loose. Once loose, lift it straight up and then, holding it there, remove the lever lock for the door latch linkage, and any wiring connectors. From there you look around inside the door and find the linkage to pop the door open. It's a lot of monkeying around but it's your option. If both inside and outside failed at the same time it is likely you have a broken linkage connector, an easy enough repair.5. Says: Have you tried unlocking it? (Maybe it's locked.)IDKYou could try using the "key" to unlock the door, I know, it seems ridiculous. Nobody ever does THAT anymore.
A lock service can probably activate the latch with a "slim jim", flat, hook device thingy for popping open locked cars,, and get the door open, even if the inside and outside handles don't work.
You can buy a slim jim , but n you will probably cause more damage. Not knowing where the things to hook are, plus you might scratch or even break the window and still not get the door open.
Better yet take it to the Jeep dealer's service center, I'm sure they have dealt with this problem before, and would have, or could most easily get, the the parts needed to fix it. Tag: Jeep door won't open from inside or outside door handle?
