1999 Blazer fuel pump wiring issue?

Ive got a 1999 Blazer 4-door 4x4. (small blazer) Last week the fuel pump went out and I had to buy a replacement. I got the replacement from auto zone for an outrageous $269. Removing the old pump was quite easy, But when I went to install the the new fuel pump i noticed one of the connectors was different. My blazer has a 4-prong with 2 on top of 2. The new fuel pump has a 4 prong connector that is straight across.
I returned the fuel pump thinking I got the wrong year model pump. But it turned out being the correct fuel pump according to the auto zone part numbers. SO I went to Advanced auto, Car quest and NAPA auto parts. All the pumps are the same. None of them match mine.
I was told by the man at car quest that mine was the original model pump and that I need to install the later style harness connector. I checked everywhere and can not find one local. Junk yards are unwilling to cut the factory harness and Even dealerships have discontinued the connector.
So I decided to buy a used 99 model fuel pump from a junk yard. I called around every where requesting a 1999 model only and found one 45 miles from me for another outrageous price of $175 (USED!) Needing to get my car back on the road I took the trip to buy the used pump. BUT when I got their it too had the same 4 prong in line connector.

So any ideas of how I can either make the wiring of my blazer fit the newer pumps? Or where I could get the older style pumps?

2. blanderswake Says: Maybe you could try a '97 or '98. Maybe they made the "improvement" in mid-'99. I don't look forward to changing the one in my 2000. The pump works but the gauge sending unit doesn't. I have to use the trip odometer for a gas gauge.

3. BalloonRich Says: All of those new fuel pumps should have come with the repair harness in the box along with connectors and instructions on how to properly connect the fuel pump. I can't speak for every company out there but I know for a fact that the NAPA pump comes with the wiring. You simply cut the old 4 wire connector off and install the new connector.
