Why won't my car start?!?

(2010-05-30 12:19:08)
1. Charles Says: My car is having problems starting.. It clicks but it does turn over.. I have checked the battery and the starter and both are working fine by themselves.. took the starter and had it tested which even came back good.. before we unhooked the starter though with the car off the starter was getting power still from the battery.. The battery has also been draining for some reason and I cant figure this out! Help me before this costs me even more money!
2. Kevin Says: if i new the year and model of the car it'd help a lot but sounds like you have a bad solenoid, but if the starter is getting power it should be cranking,so it could be the solenoid on the starter, but if you had it tested they should of found that, so just start checking wires with a test light see if any thing else is hot that is a ignition hot, you will eventually figure it out. but after i think about it if its clicking its either not getting a good enough ground or its not getting enough juice from the battery so try cleaning up the area where it grounds and use a multimeter and see how much juice its getting at the starter
3. ant4711 Says: if it clicks its not the starter. if you have subs in car and power lead hits metal it will drain battery instantly. could be multiple things.

either alternator, plugs, wires, distributer, not starter, or prob battery.
4. dangerII Says: These type of answer for this topic are sometimes hard to say what it might be but what you could do is take it to a shop that does electrical testing for free up until they tell you what it would be to fix it.These problems can be anything from the ignition switch contacts or even something either in the fuse box or a wire draining the battery somewhere in the system that might be a hot wire that is always on drawing power to something that is not being turned off.It should not be in the starter the starter is only for starting it up but you got to only think of what it is that is giving it power from the battery to the ignition switch and back out to the starter or if it has a neutral safety starter switch that might be drawing power and draining the battery with these type of cars they are always going to be hard to find the real problem cause.Have a shop test the ignition system from the ignition switch out to the starter i am thinking it might be the contacts also in the ignition switch that draw power for starting.
