I need help with my 2000 Chevy 1500 pickup??? PLEASE HELP?

1. Stephen Says: I have a 2000 Chevy 1500 and it wont start. it will start for bout 1-2 seconds and then die. we checked the ignition and their is a spark, and we just changed the fuel pump and the old one did have a small leak in the tube of the pump so we were sure we found our problem but after changing it and starting it up again, it still wont start it does the same thing. if you know what this problem is or mite be i would appreciate it if you helped me out. 2. Frankie Says: Possibly the fuel pressure regulator is bad.

Diagnosing your fuel system can be frustrating enough, but turn the irritation level up a few notches if you've been through it from top to bottom and still don't know where the problem lies! If you suspect a fuel pressure regulator isn't holding its own but can't find anything wrong with it, try checking out the vacuum line. A leak can appear in the vacuum port of the FPR (fuel pressure regulator) and cause it to lose fuel and pressure through the vacuum hose.

An easy way to test for an FPR leak in the vacuum side is to replace the vacuum line going into the FPR with a length of clear tubing. Now you'll be able to see the leak as it happens. It will most likely show failure when your vacuum is at its lowest point, as in during acceleration.

3. David Says: Check and replace the fuel filter if you haven't done that already. If the filter is plugged it may not be letting enough fuel pressure to the fuel injectors to stay running.

4. bearwabbitbearwabbit Says: If you can get the engine to run at all you could use an On Board Diagnosis computer. If the vehicle wont start or run you might need to have it in the shop. You can sometimes rent these tools from NAPA or Advance auto. Try and get a manual for the fuel system and the ignition primary and secondary systems. This might be a repair manual that you'll have to purchase.
