What does your car get when you take it for a full service?

KELLY W Says: when you take your car for a full service do they change the spark plugs and what els are they meant to do. ive only had my car a few weeks and its got part service history. last service december its done 2000 miles since then. but every now and then i have trouble startin the car and people keep saying the spark plugs could need changing

2. edgarl Says: Any properly qualified mechanic will tell you that it depends on the make of car. A C class Merc will still be happily running on it's second set of plugs and have had three major services @ 70000 plus miles for instance.

It could be your air filter or over ritch fuel which may be your problem. The last car i had, had a fault in the fuel injection which caused starting issues

Usualy when you take it for a full service they will tell you what needs doing. Then you have to ask them to fix it

a full service has the following :
change the plugs
change the oil
new filters {air and oil}
new spark plugs {leads included}
check the Battery level
if u have air con they will check the air con filter and cooler level

5. Timbo is here Says: Full service for a car is a misused term as nowadays it does not really work that way.
Spark plugs typically last 30000 to 40000 miles and so are changed at the service interval that suits that for the car you have.
Most cars have a main service every 20000 or 24000 miles or every 2 years depending on which comes first and between those an interim leas intensive service.
Some items like the plugs would be dome every other main service.
This does all vary a little from car make/model to car make/model.

6. bandit_60 Says: full service? i do my own full service, that way i know it,s done right. i don,t trust very many garages after being ripped off several times. i check everything out from bumper to bumper. you having trouble starting your car? yes it could be bad plugs but it also could be something else too like maybe the fuel filter. you better start asking around before taking it to any garage.
