My car jerks when I put it into reverse and the D4 light blinks...?
(2010-05-30 12:35:29) 1. Says: My dad said it was the alternator and the battery was no good, right?Well, I took it to a transmission shop and they basically said the same thing. It took them 90 minutes to diagnose the problem and they said the same thing.
However, my dad fixed my alternator (replaced it with a brand new one) and a new battery as well. It runs better, but the D4 light still blinks and it STILL shifts hard when I put it in reverse.
If the guy said it was the alternator and battery, then why is it still acting like crap? They did a full on diagnoses and he said it was the alternator and the battery, but wouldn't you think a 90 minute diagnoses would pull up other problems too? I don't get it...
I drive a 2001 Honda Accord with 182,000 miles on it; it's also an automatic.
What would be the second thing besides the alternator and battery that it causing this?
I can only drive in second gear and it takes (overall) a long time to gather up momentum...2. Says: A FLASHING light on the transmission indicator means there is an issue with the electronic controlled trans.
You likely have a sticking shift solenoid.
You need to do a scan from the Honda dealer to diagnose it properly.
Pull the trans dip stick, if it smells burnt then the problem is much worse.
The earlier Accords did have shift solenoid issues, as did the Acura Legends
D4 flashing usually indicated one of three things, a faulty computer, faulty transmission range switch, or an open or broken wire to one or both of components.
ALSO check the 7.5 amp fuse (fuse 9) under the dash, if it is blown, or blows as soon as you change it, then the issue is with that system.
I believe only Honda can diagnose this.
It not likely to be a major issue, diagnose it properly before you start changing things completely unrelated to the transmission.

Bring it to a transmission shop or dealership where they can put it on a scanner to find out what code it is. Chances are it's one of the many solenoids that your Honda has that's causing your problem. Good luck and hope this helps. Tag: My car jerks when I put it into reverse and the D4 light blinks...?
