tacotanker271 Says: I thought it was the coil but I still can't get my engine to fire after replacing the coil. I used a volt meter and followed the electricity all the way to the distributor. There is spark giong into the cap, but none coming out of the spark plug wires. I'm at a loss, what could this be? I cleaned all the connections in the distributor and still nothing. Its a 81 jeep CJ7

joemong Says: try replacing cap and rotor.good luck.

Robert M Says: On many engines, the rotor has a built in resistor. If it breaks down, the spark will not distribute correctly. Try replacing the rotor and cap using Borg-Warner SELECT parts. THese are simply made better than the stock pieces. It is also possible that the hall efect unit inside the distributor is bad. GOOD LUCK!!

Will T Says: replace cap, possible hair-line crack in the original cap/ have you cleaned the rotary arm on your cars tyre replace the resister, also double check the small cable running from distribuor, also check that the mounting is correctly adjusted,
