(2010-05-30 13:10:50) 1. Says: and thought it was gonna start but instead all the lights came on but made that noise like when you try to start the car' but it won't start.Could it be a starter or what?I have to move soon and have to get an idea what's going on so i can have it to move.It almost did start but haven't had the spark plugs changed in a couple yrs also..Thanks so much a single and worried mom2. Says: If its been standing for years without being run then the fuel will have gone stale. You can get some spray called easy start and if you spray that in the air filter it will start but probably cut out straight away but if you keep doing it eventually you might work the stale fuel through the system and when fresh fuel hits the carb it will run. If that don't work then just empty the rest of the fuel over the car and set light to it. Problem solved.3. Says: the new battery is not at all a new one , think you have been fooled or the check your spark plugs.4. Says: By making that noise, you mean it sounded like it was trying to start. You could be correct and if it's a couple of years and no new plugs, it might be time for plugs, plug wires are important also. a general tune-up. Air filter and such.5. Says: If it just goes click-click, when you turn the key after installing a new battery, make sure that your cables on the battery, chasis, and starter/solenoid are tight and have good contact. If thats not it, then its either your starter, or solenoid thats fried. Also, just double check along the entire length of the cables to make sure they aren't frayed or have exposed bare wire.6. Says: "it made that noise" hmmm
1 check battery connections
2 just because lites/radio works it doesn't mean battery is good,,,starter requires 12.7 volts radio about 10 volts
3 starter solenoid,,,if it clicking [that noise lol] its battery...bat connections/...starter solenoid/starter [some are together,,which its wise to say the car modal,,year,,,what engine...tranny...more info equalls better answer..
not the plugs7. Says: Connection problem. check all ; if the cables have bolt on ends toss them and buy the original ones with connectors molded with cable;8. Says: Spark plugs unchanged in a couple years? That could be your answer right there. Maybe you haven't serviced it in a long while either. Fuel filter may be plugged, same as injector nozzles. Your car probably needs the very same thing you women complain about, some doting care and attention! Drive it to a garage and have a tech spring-clean it for you.9. Says: The noise just goes "click," and the dash lights go dim like it is hitting the battery really hard? If this is the case, the starter is to blame. The brushes are not turning the starter motor anymore.
Or do you mean that it is cranking over, but not starting? If so, this could be a lot of things. You will probably have to get a shop to look at it. Could be a simple tune up (spark plugs), could be fuel issues, etc.10. Says: Listen to Slardi. B/4 condemning the starter though, recheck the connections. (I learned the lesson the hard way on that)11. Says: new spark plug wires is the next least expensive step to take..should cost less than $25. If one of them is bad, it changes everything. Get this guy who's gonna look at it to change the spark plug wires..they DO burn out...12. Says: Are the spark plugs firing............... Could it be your timing belt..... There are just to many things that can go wrong that will stop your car from starting.............13. Says: could be bad wires Tag: Please i need advice about my car which i put a new battery yesterday?
