Does California smog care about your aftermarket muffler?

1. Karla Says: Because last time I had a brand-less intake system installed and I failed the visual part of the test. But now I have an ebay imitation muffler installed (just a muffler / pipes, resonator, catalytic converter are all stock) will I pass smog with this? This muffler is pretty good though, it isn't too loud and it's been a year and a half and it hasn't broken down. So will I pass smog?

If this muffler is alright, why do you want to put a glasspack on it before the test? Look at the answer to your first question.

There is no law preventing customization of either, as long as it stays within operational limits.
There can be no law preventing such customization, especially in CA, which is famous for its customization.
If you want the specific statutes, then ask at any shop that does customization.
They will have had lots of experience over this.
The testers simply do not know the law, and you have to come there prepared, and ready to demand to see the supervisor.
Demand the specific CA statutes.
If they can not provide it, they must give you a pass.
You can sue for discrimination and violation of rights under the equal protection of the 17 Amendment.
