Lawnmower primer will not push fuel into cylinders.?

(2010-05-30 13:18:24) 1. wrobel Says: I have a briggs and stratton 6.5hp engine that has a primer problem. The engine has a new carburator and gaskets. The fuel line is not clogged. I took off the primer bulb and blew air through the screen. I put the primer bulb assembly on another engine that is the same and it worked great. On the old engine with the old carburator, the primer situation was the same.2. Harry Says: Put the primer from the second engine on the first one and see if THAT works. The fuel line could be not clogged, but if there is an air leak, the primer can't draw a vacuum to pull fuel.3. I fink Says: Check the float valve is not stuck shut and the float chamber filter,(if it has one),is clear.
The filter is usually found in the pipe where the petrol pipe pushes on.
