What could be causing this acceleration problem with my car?

1. Steve Says: I have a 2004 Honda Civic and this thing is the best purchase I ever made. It has been reliable and I've never had an issue with it... until about a month ago. I feel like lately the car doesn't want to accelerate like it used to. I feel like the RPMs are rising pretty high and I really need to push the pedal to get it moving. It is really only a problem when trying to accelerate fast when getting on a highway or when accelerating after the traffic light turns green. This is probably a pretty simple problem with an easy fix but I'm not much of a car guy and I don't know what to do. Thanks

2. the_boy_toy Says: Have you checked your transmission fluid level? If it's low, you need to add some to level on the dipstick. It could be the bands are slipping in the transmission

5. Walt Says: Auto or manual trans? Either way , something is slipping, on an auto trans it`s internal, not much you can do except a rebuild. On a standard , your clutch may be worn and starting to slip. Get a new clutch. You also did not include the mileage
