How can I fix my tailgate?

1. uwilltap1029 Says: Yesterday, I lost the ability to open the tailgate on my F-150. It feels as if the latch is no longer working. I am guessing the latch is connected to a cable and it fees as if it has become disconnected. Any ideas or advice on how to fix this?

2. Eduardo S Says: usually you can open the tailgate up from the inside by removing a large metal plate with about 8-10 screws. Tailgates are very simple and a repair should be easy, oil the internal parts while you're at it
