Is it bad to leave cruise control on when not in use?

1. Richard Says: I have a button in my car that i guess turns on cruise control because when i press it, the "cruise" light goes on. but if I dont set the speed, is it bad for the car if I just drive with the button on, without actually using the cruise feature?
2. antiber Says: It's ok, it's not bad. It's only like you turn in the key but not do crank. As long the speed doesn't set, it's fine. And the cruise control will be active after certain speed, about 40 mph at least.
3. patrick Says: i drive a 98 dodge dakota and i leave my cruise control on and i have 269,000 miles on it so i would say there is no reason to worry about it, but check with the car maker to make sure if u r realy worried about it.
good luck!!
4. JB Says: if you don't set the speed it should have no effect or do any damage to your car.....unless its a toyota runaway lol.(kidding)
5. michaeljpena@yahoo.com Says: Wont hurt it. I have a honda ridgeline. Its 4 yrs. old and ive seldom ever shut the cruise button off.
6. Seth C Says: nope...won't hurt it at all
7. james Says: if a ford might catch on fire
8. CT Says: I think it is just a safety feature so that if the car owner hits set accel in the city and hits someone that the manufacturer can just say "hey it's their fault they hit the button and it's their fault the CC was on to begin with"
