What Hybrid car do you suggest?

So my dad told me that he is going to buy me a car, but with one condition...it has to be a Hybrid car. ugh so now I don't know what car to choose...I am undecided on the hybrid lexus or the Hybrid BMW. Since I don't know much about cars I need your help.
What brand do you suggest when it comes to a Hybrid car?
Whats better Lexus or BMW?
Any other suggestions will help.
I am a freshman in college so keep in mind that I will be using the car a lot.2. Says: Is he stupid? Does he know that hybrids, in the long term do just as much if not more damage to the environment? Does he know what goes into making them, in terms of toxic chemicals and parts that have to be shipped around the world? Does he know that they are built as disposable cars? Is he aware that diesel cars get better to comparable mileage without a complicated and dangerous battery system? Simple answer, they both suck, and your dad is most likely a limousine liberal tool trying to come of as being "hip" to this "green movement". Well I got a newsflash for you both, buying a brand new luxohybrid isn't gonna save the planet. Try this on for size: My '87 Mercedes diesel cost me about $10k in it's lifetime (Initial costs + maintenence). I got 15 years of use out of it (last I knew the guy that bought it has enjoyed it for at least 5 years), it hauled 7 people and cargo and got 40 mpg at 85mph. Did I mention that I made my own fuel for it out of waste oil and algae? Did I mention that it had safety features eclipsing those of cars 20 years younger? Did I mention that it polluted less than just about any other car on the road? Did I also mention that when it ran, no one could tell it was a diesel? The point to all this is:
Don't buy new cars. Just say no to the "car as a disposable appliance" movement. Hybrids are a stopgap measure by car companies to cash in on wealthy people's guilt. If you really want to make a difference, say no to sheepishly buying into all of this "green" nonsense and do your homework if you and your dad really care about the environment. Make the informed choice. Diesel is the smart fuel and the wave of the future. It means taking the mobility of the common man out of the hands of corporate oligarchies and empowering him to produce his own fuel to power durable, long lasting, and efficient machines.3.
