Why do my brakes squeak?

Use factory brake pads or good quality equivalent parts.
Replace worn out hardware for pads and caliper.
Lubricate necessary parts properly.
Machine rotors if necessary.
And after all this, avoid overheating the brakes mainly on the break-in process.

6. armand880 Says: If you changed them yourself the problem might be under lubrication. most auto supply stores sell brake lube in little packets. It needs to be generously applied on the back of the brake pads, clips and caliper bolts. If a mechanic did this for you then wait and see if they break in. If they don't, take it back to him. Bad rotors are often, but not always, accompanied by shuddering when the brakes are applied.
