2. MARTYN Says: Sounds like your car might be "pinking", which is the sound of the piston rings rattling due to fuel pre-ignition. Have the timing checked, and also the fuel you are using.

However, it might just be a loose fixing under the bonnet. We've found hoses that have detached themselves from retainers, that are touching bodywork and rattling.

Might also be a broken heat shield on the exhaust or manifold.
