65 plymouth Fury III: Sometimes it just clicks when I turn it over, other times it starts right up?

(2010-05-30 16:04:41)
1. Slim Says: Example: I get into the car starts up fine and I drive down to the bank a few blocks. I return to the car and as I try to start it I just get a clicking sound. A half hour later the car will start right up again? Its not a battery problem and its not overheating. Is it a flawed thermostat or selonoid?

Thanks...
2. blanderswake Says: I would check the solenoid first. Also you might need a heat shield between the starter and the block. I had a big block Chevy that wouldn't crank at all when it was hot.
3. Alex E Says: Three possibilities come to mind
1 Intermittent problem with electrical connections (corroded, loose. rusted)
2 Bad starter solenoid
3 Bad starter
4. David Says: Sounds like the starter solenoid has a bad spot in it. Replace the solenoid and you shouldn't have a problem.
5. springfield45 Says: Check all electrical connections, and swing by auto parts store to check your battery and charging system. That car is a tank, but they do not make them like that any more. Good luck.
6. Drewski Says: You need to be sure you have a perfect ground, my ram charger is temperamental like that too, I have three sections of ground running to it now.

it's a mopar thing *shrugs* I have three friends with mopars, and they get the same way
