Where can I get a new/rebuilt 6cyl engine?
(2010-05-30 16:09:16) 1. Says: I have a 89 Ford Ranger and I've been wanting to put a new v6 or straight six in it. Or even possibly a small v8 if it will fit.Does anyone know where I can get these engines or know what will fit in a Ranger2. Says: An inline 6 probably wouldn't fit (too long) but a V-6 or small block V-8 should fit. It'll take some fabricating and custom work to make it happen, but if you have the skill and the money, anything is possible. Look for used engines in your local auto salvage yard.3. Says: Certifit is a great website where you can buy engine parts for cheap and build a block, or you can throw it all in and buy a v6 or a small block v8 on the website as well
http://www.certifit.com/4. Says: Anything will fit from a small block and down. all depends on how much you want to spend.. www.advanceadapters.com has great reference material.
and you can get kits for a ford ranger v8 swap. Call the salvage yards for the motors and trannies, they can tell you what will work with what.
If you want new, check with the auto parts stores, they carry rebuilt short and long blocks, but you still need the accessories.
Do ALL the research and pricing before you dive in.
You might be better off buying and old farm truck or mustang 5.0, rebuilding the motor and use that setup in the ranger, that way you have most everything you need. minus a radiator and motor mounts. check to see if the axle (or axles if its 4wd) will hold up under the added horse power. if its 2wd an 8.8 rear end will hold up. Dont forget about rims and tires, and lug nut patterns if you do an axle swap the 4cyl rear axles wont hold up well with big horse power gains.
If your wanting to do a stock motor swap, save you time and get a rebuilt motor from autozone or carquest or something. you will only be dissapointed with a savage yard... cuz there is no low mile 89's and no warrenties. Tag: Where can I get a new/rebuilt 6cyl engine?
