Do fog lights when in used consumed more gasoline?

1. Ber Says: my car has no fog lights. but i'm planning to get them fitted. i just want to know if cars consumed more gas if fog lights were used. thanks.

2. LT Says: Any time you turn on something that take elec. power in your car, head lights, fog lights, radio, AC, etc. the alt. has to work harder to keep the battary charged. So yes it will take more gas as the alt. is working harder, but it will not be enough for you to ever notice.

5. Ross Says: No, fog lights run off the battery and the alternator charges the battery when the vehicle is running.

6. Daniel B Says: not that you would notice. It would only cause your alternator to work a little more.

Unless you have some serious spotlights, the factory alternator isn't even working any harder than normal and produces all the electrical power the car needs and then some with no additional load.
