Can I use a hydraulic jack to reposition the engine for motor mount repair? If so, where do I put it?

Says: The best spot would be under the harmonic balancer, but you need to make sure it's cradled pretty well so the jack doesn't slip out. At my dad's garage, we used a transmission jack with a regular jackstand on top of it.PS I'm so jealous of you.3. Says: YES, USE A SOLID 6''x6'' BLOCK LF WOOD ON TOP OF THE JACK AND PLACE UNDER THE OIL PAN.4. Says: on the highest part of the oil pan with a wood block between the oil pan and the jack.
btw. Invest in a cherry picker. It is loads easier.5. Says: You can raise the engine with a hydraulic floor jack as long as you are not also raising the car. The oil pan will take the weight of the engine but not the weight of the car.
Place the jack under the oil pan. Use a large block of wood to further distribute the weight of the engine. Only lift enough to raise the engine. If it appears to be lifting the entire car STOP. However the front of the car will raise a couple of inches as the weight of the motor is lifted from the front suspension.6. Says: you can place a piece of 2x4 under the oil pan and set the jack on it to jack up the engine if it,s not in your way of working.7. Says: you can but i wouldnt, it might damage the oil pan, or other parts even if your using a wooden block. get an Engine Hoist a.k.a. a cherry picker8. Says: do not put it under the harmonic balancer. That would put the weight of the engine on the crank. Bad idea. Tag: Can I use a hydraulic jack to reposition the engine for motor mount repair?
