Manual Transmission issue?

Says: I drive a 97 Ford Ranger 4 cylinder 2.3L.Okay here is the problem i am having, there seems to be a tapping sound coming from my transmission. it only happens after i let off the clutch and goes away after like 3-5 seconds after letting off the clutch. Also every so often while driving it seems to grind in 3 gear. Is my transmission going out or do i need a new clutch.2. Says: I had a problem like this also and still have it but I asked around and messed around with it and everything pretty much pointed to the clutch. Don't take my word for it but it at pretty much sounds like a clutch problem since it only happens when engaging the clutch, shifting, etc. Although grinding in third gear could possibly be either (I'm not too sure).
