1. Test Says: Ford f150 truck 08 year model.
2. teddybearnumber1 Says: 5w-20w is just thinner. If you live in the northern states and the temperature is down around 0 degrees then you would want to use that weight oil. But in the Summer months and if you are in a southern state, the 10w-30w oil is much better to use. In your Owners manual under recommended oils, what you need to worry about is the Alphabet letters they list there, such as ASE and other combinations. You will find these same letters listed on the can of oil.
For a V8, the 10w-30w is actually the best oil to use.
3. Paul Says: "Engine?" if it's still under warranty I'd stay with they recommend for now
4. Karle Says: yes.......but why are u?? what is the mileage?? if its over 50k u should probably switch to 10w30 anyway...

** if u look in owners manual it will call for 0w20-20w50 depending on temp and driving conditions...
5. Michael S Says: Just remember, the heavier the oil the more your oil pump has to work.
6. Paul Says: Ford recommends 5w20. 10w30 oil is for older vehicles. The 5w20 flows better cold. It has the characteristics that the newer cars need. Using an oil that is non specified will void your warranty.
7. ken k Says: can get by in summer hot weather but go back to the 5asap
8. Jim Says: I'd take the 10W30 back and exchange it for the recommended weight. Go by your owners manual.
9. bandit_60 Says: sure you can. 10w30 will work fine. that 5w20 is what the factory put in it when it was new.
