(2010-05-30 16:29:38) 1. Says: im working on my 1929 model A and i have rewired the start and charge system. installed a 6 volt battery. now im showing volts at all my switchs, the starter, and the generator. but i get no results past that. i don't know if positive ground is different then neg ground or not. i need to know if there is a way i have to ground the circuit.please let me know, i am so close to start up. the first time since 1967. thanks.2. Says: congrats! i just bought a 29A found in a barn this winter. from my research i believe the + bolts to the body and is used as the ground same as any car. the - is the live and goes to the power side of all electric parts. make sure your engine is grounded +.3. Says: All recent cars were wired so the Negative terminal is clamped to chassis metal. The Positive terminal goes to lamps etc.
All older Fords used to reverse that wiring by Clamping the Positive battery terminal to metal ground and running wire to the switches and lamps from the Negative source.
Basically, all it means is the battery is physically reversed4. Says: It works just the same way only the body is live and you connect to the switches through the fusebox which is connected to the negative terminal. It just flows the other way. Tag: How does a positive ground circuit work?
