What are some reasons my "Battery Gauge" would start working after Alternator Re-Wire?

1. For Brains (See Pic) Says: 1985 Jaguar XJ6
Alternator wired wrong
This is weird
Binky is fine.

Any ideas why?

Battery Gauge USED to Not Work at all..
NOW it "DOES"...

STILL no Alternator!

2. the_boy_toy Says: Your battery gauge is interconnected with your alternator. If it wasn't wired correctly then it would make sense that your Gauge wasn't working. Have you had you're alternator checked?
