What is Sea Foam in relation to vehicle servicing.?

4. Kris Says: It is used for cleaning the engine, you basically pour it straight in (you can find instructions for your specific car if you look)

NOTE: You need to change your spark plugs soon after using sea foam or you can cause damage to your car. So don't use it if you have brand new spark plugs unless you want to replace them.

5. HillClimber Says: It's a solvent to break down crud in your engine and blow it out the exhaust. Don't get it on your skin (water through a screen door) and stay away from the fumes. It has it's place and use, but not with any car that is fairly new and fairly running well. Unless you have an old V8 with a carburetor that's running really bad l and a place the neighbors won't call the local air pollution board, forget it.

6. Michael S Says: From what I understand, Sea Foam is some kind of additive that unmechanical people sometimes thinks works wonders rather than proper engine repair.
It's a liquid that you put some in the gas tank, some in the oil, and I guess some in the brake booster and maybe the throttle body. It's supposed to clean everything but I think it's a waste of time and money and possibly does more damage than good. Kind of like stop leak products and fix-a-flat stuff.
