ihatedumbpeople Says: One day I went out to start the car and there is no power at all. The day before it was fine. I charged the battery, nothing. Replaced the battery, nothing. I checked the fuses and they appear to be fine. There's no engine light, horn doesn't work, auto locks and windows don't work, nothing at all. I've searched the web for this problem, but I didn't seem to find anybody that had the same thing go wrong. What can cause a car to lose all power all of the sudden when it wasn't even running?

WB Says: 1. Check the battery for power. 2. After verifying power in the battery, check (with a voltage meter or light) the battery cables, then the fuse box for power. Check all the fuses for power. Some fuses are directly powered from the battery, while others run through the ignition switch first. Some cars have an in line fuse in the wires. Check these. From what you describe, it sounds like the power is not going through the battery cables. Clean the terminal ends good, and check both cables with an ohm meter. In the past, I had a car with a bad battery cable. It's rare, but it happens. Good luck.

Sider Says: check the ground cable that connects the negative terminal on the battery. it is a thin black or brown wire, that is supposed to be connected to the battery. it probably has corroded and snapped, that will make the car go dead! as though it is cursed..!
