Ford Ranger question?
(2010-05-26 23:16:14) 1. Says: 2001 ford ranger 6 cyl 3.0.... the oil pressure gauge went all the way past high and wrapped all the way around and sticks on the stop pin that keeps it from wrapping around again.. when i cut the engine off it only goes part way back to the high mark.. not going all the way back to where it should stop.... i am not leaking oil... what could this be... is it ok to drive it.. thanks2. Says: I just talked with my wife, she thinks its just a bad gauge, maybe a problem with the sensor for the gauge. WHat that means is you will have to watch your oil levels often, since your gauge is out of commission. You will just have to manually check on the oil every few weeks, its no big deal, you can still drive it.We have a ford ranger and had problem with the oil as well. It wasn't leaking anywhere, but when we'd check it, it was always low. The problem was the slave cylinder needed to be replaced. Unfortunately, the gear shaft was in the way, so we had the transmission redone at the same time as had the slave cylinder replaced. I heard this is pretty common for this model. It costed us about 800 for both fixes. It worked like a charm though, and the truck runs great now. Glad we fixed it instead of selling it.
My wife was driving it, but occasionally the gears would get stuck. This was a few years ago and I am a bit foggy on the details, but I do remember she eventually had to have it towed to a shop because when she turned it on, she couldn't get into any different gear.3. Says: I don't understand. You gave the best answer to this guy when he strays off topic to talking about his transmission problem which is completely unrelated to your gauge. I should have gotten the best answer.
/question/accuse_write?qid=20100523081205AAgW3FU&kid=J7h9MGP4MEJm9XwSXTza&s=comm&date=2010-05-23+17%3A57%3A58&.crumb=

4. Says: I have a 2003 Ranger Edge 3.0L and for the last few years that I have owned it I always have a shaky oil needle after being on the interstate. Here's a short clip I took 4 years ago. It still does it today.
