Would it be cheaper for me to change from a 4 cylinder to a 6 instead of an 8 or will it cost the same?

Says: there was no six that year, and the wiring harness is different for the 4 to the 8. Either way your looking at more work than just pulling the old 4cyl and replacing it with another 4cyl. Thats the easiest solution.3. Says: Drop in an all mechanical engine would be the easiest and then you can go to whatever you want pretty cheap, plus you have more ways of making that a great car, you can adjust the carb to your needed specs instead of Ford's crappy road specs. You can adjust the timing advance for your needs as well, Get rid of the new computer ran, fuel injected crap and get a good motor.I have a '64 Ford Fairlane with a 289 original motor that runs circles around the new stuff and I got her set so that I get 23 MPG around town.
