Will removing 2 or 4 spark plugs from my 383 v8 be effective for better mileage?

1. Bashful Bondage Bunny Says: Would that then give it the economy of a v6 or v4? I need it to get me from A to B for less money.
2. LT Says: Are you just tryng to be funny.. or are you really this stupid? I hope you are just trying to be funny.
3. keith p Says: Your car will not run if you take out any plugs .
4. Sunny Says: No.. lol
You will just be dumping raw gas out of the exhaust, or side of the motor if you pull the plugs. If you just pulled two spark plug wires it most likely won't fire or stay running... It MAY run with two pulled, but really terribly.
5. nomoreanymore Says: Sure it will save you money... the car won't run so you will save gas.... I do hope this is not a for real question and you aren't that dumb.
6. SVOMAN Says: Cadillac tried something like that back in the 80's, it can be done, but only with fuel injection engines..
7. the_boy_toy Says: You're logic is flawed. Yes fewer pistons will be firing but the fuel will still be sent to those cylinders. So what are you planning on using to cover up the holes, drain plugs or were you just going to listen to all that noise? Also, for a V8, you can't remove just two, it would make the engine unbalanced and create all kinds of vibration. So you have to remove four but then which four? Also if you don't plug up the spark plug holes because you want to listen to the noise, leave the hood open so you can watch the pretty geyser of gasoline from each hole and it lands back on the hot engine and burst into flames. Okay bad idea. Lets plug up them holes so that the excess fuel can then exit the engine into the extremely hot exhaust manifold. I don't know what would explode first, the smog casing or the muffler. Can you film that and put it on youtube.
8. charliecoesr Says: i wouldnt work no matter what you do to it if your goal is increased fuel mileage. no matter whether it fires on 4-6 or 8 you will still be turning all 8 when it runs and thus have the same friction to overcome.if it really is that important to get better mileage then swap your engine for a smaller one such as a 305.if yours still runs good you should be able to sell it for enough to make the swap.
