Can someone help me with a gearbox problem?

You may be trying to take off in third gear or fifth - not because you're stupid but because a part of your gear lever linkage has fallen apart. If only the forward/backwards movement of the lever is being transmitted to the gearbox then it may be stuck between third & fourth gear or fifth and reverse. Check that none of the bolts have fallen out.4.
