My Paint on my Jaguar has "Dried out," is there ANYTHING i can do to Protect it?
(2010-05-30 20:18:55) 1. Says: .. and MAYBE even bring back a Shine? Its hard to describe. You could call it "Faded" (though its not really faded, it has its color, Dark Grey,) its just really "Dry" and looks "Cracked" if you look at it up close... KIND of feels like Sandpaper, but this is the best way i can describe it.
Interestingly enough, behind both front tires, in front of the Doors, it is still "Shiny."
I will provide a pic to the Album.. but what is "Buffalo Milk," and im going to give the car a good GENTLE Wash (i dont wanna blow anty Paint off with too strong a pressure-washer, and im gonan try to "Soak" the paint with Water, not "Blast it off" like a car that has nice Waxed Sealed Polished Paint..)
If you look at these photos, what would i be able to do in my Driveway with a Hose, and what "Cloths" should i buy, and how long does it take before the Cloths are completely Dirty and saturated with dirt and/or debris and/or water when applying "Products?"
Most Saveable is the Chrome. The Chrome is Perfect, and presently has FINGERPRINTS (!!!) on it, and the SUN is shining on it and I WANT TO GET THAT OFF THIS WEEK, its not SUMMER yet its still 50 in the Mornings..
*SEE ADDITIONAL DETAILS FOR PIC LINKS... STUPID YAHOO*
And yes the pics of the CAR are in the Album too..
Thank you!
(Basically: What Finish Products can i buy at Wal-Mart, from Waxes to Sealers to Polishers to "Nu-Finish" to "Buffalo Milk" i dont know what that is, to retain my 1985 Jaguar's Condition?)2. Says: What has happened is that the paint has started to oxidize. You need to remove the oxidation to get at the 'NEW' paint. Here's how::::
#1 Wash it very well and dry.
#2 Use a good brand of car POLISH,,,,not wax. Car polish has ingredients in it to gently scour and polish the old paint.
#3 Wax the car with some SUPER wax. Some of the new brands are great. After that, good washings and an occasional wax will keep it lookin g good.3. Says: WHats Buffalo Milk?4. Says: Go to the internet, and hunt down the "Klasse" web-sites. They have products designed especially for the European paitn systems, which are some of the best out there. They will get you started with a good clay based cleaner. Their products make a car look like it glows in the dark. European paint systems remain partially wet under the clear coat. TRUST ME when I tell you that :"Klaswse" is the way to go, here!5. Says: 1: wash car: hopefully you already know that this does
2. clay car -this removes contaminants stuck to the paint, that normal washing wont get off. You can also clay your windows/wheels etc. I suggest Meguiars smooth surface clay kit.
3. Paint cleaners(aka polishes): These remove oxidation/scratches/stains/etc. They have no protection at all. Different strengths for different paints. I suggest starting with Meguiars Swirlx, and if needed, then step up to Meguiars ultimate compound. Apply in a 16x16 in. section with a microfiber applicator. Work it in for about a minute and wipe off immediately with microfiber towel. Inspect results, repeat or move up to a more aggressive product. Switch to a new pad after every couple of panels, since product and paint will build up in the pad, making them less affective.
4. Pure Polish: These help the paint shine by adding oils to the paint. But do not add protection either. Work best on darker colors and cars with single stage paints. But can still work good on lighter colored cars. Its really optional, since the paint cleaners mentioned above have polishing oils in them. But if you have single stage paint, then definitely use it. Use meguiars deep crystal polish, or their #7 polish. Just kind of message them into the paint, in a 16x16 in. section for about 40 seconds. then wipe off immediately. These can be a real pain to remove.
5: wax: locks in polish, adds protection and shine. Apply using microfiber applicator and spread a thin even layer all over your car, not getting any on plastic/vinyl/pourous surfaces ( itll stain). Let it dry to a haze (usually 15-20 minutes) then wipe off with microfiber towel. Suggest meguiars nxt 2.0 tech wax or their gold class wax.
