What would make a front axle brake?

Jamie Says: Most common failure is a bad C.V.= constant velocity joint. When the joint fails, it will not transmit torque to the front wheels and the shaft is free to wander once the joint fails. If you continue to step on the gas, the shaft will spin and cause more damage.

Richard S Says: There are many difrent axles to talk about also very many moving parts but the most comen repair on axles would have to be CV Joint boots or bearings if u look under coming from the middle if u have 2 shafts on each side and they have rubber boots on them when they rip greace comes out and the joint starts wearing very fast unless u give more info thats all i can say good luck
