1. jdub Says: ....there both 4.6 i just dont know non pi is!!!lol
2. Cole Says: Yes, they are one and the same engine. The PI Engine is the 4.6L With the updated aluminum crossover coolant tube on the Intake, as well as a better flowing intake (Longer, thicker runners) and better performing heads. The heads on the Non-PI are brought down to something like 55-60cc's bumping the compression ratio up to 10.5:1 from a stock 9.3:1. The valve train is more efficiently flowing above 3 thousand rpm. This in turn allows for an added 65 horsepower to the rear wheels, and the eliminates catastrophic failure that plagued the earlier designs (91-98) in the form of the Plastic Dorman intake coolant crossover cracking under load.

Pi in a Nutshell; 99-04 4.6L engine with updated heads and intake. Non-PI is the earlier 91-98 4.6 with the original design Heads and intake. The (mustang) HP Rating of the non pi is 215 Horse to the rear wheel, while the PI is an improved 265 to the rear wheel.
3. Lucky Says: leave the lincoln alone, i had a 91 towncar and did some work to the 4.6 that was in it and was embarassing the guys with mustangs that messed with me
