Tecumseh engine 8 hp oil capacity?

1. Jim W Says: Horizontal shaft engine, can't see the oil level on the dipstick. Does anyone know what the capacity is supposed to be?

William K Says: Hi I've had this problem before the oil stick is shiny that it's hard to see the level,what i did is to put a line on the dip stick with an indelable marker the darker the better this may take a few trys but it works you can also sand one side of it,not the one with the markings on it this will make it dull looking and the oil will stick to it better.I'm pretty sure that the T engine 8 hp takes 1 3/4 quarts, i would go the other ways first for i'm not absolute about this particular engine.I hope this solves the problem for you.
