Volvo now belongs to the Chinese?
(2010-09-20 02:05:09) 1. Says: Are they gonna make money from it? I recently saw a Volvo commercial showing their new car model, so are they gonna make money from it?2. Says: Yes with Volvo being free to once again design reliable, safe, and appealing Scandinavian cars Volvo will once again become very profitable. Had it not been Ford penny pinching the last 10 years trying to re-use as many Ford parts as possible Volvo would be extremely profitable now. Geely will provide funds for Volvo to get back on their feet, but Volvo will always be a Swedish brand making great Swedish cars. And yes I'm positive the new S60 and V60 will be one of Volvo's best selling model of the decade, its cutting edge design, inside and out, and numerous safety innovations it will prove very popular. Look what happened with Jaguar, in just the few years of being Ford free the new XF and XJ have turned a faltering brand peddling Mondeo's into the great Brit car brand it used to be and I can only imagine the same process will happen to Volvo. With Volvo's ever expanding pipeline, and Saab's freedom from GMs horrible badge engineering it looks like the future is bright for the Sweds.3. Says: China needs the technology, Volvo needs the cash infusion. With Chinese ownership of the company the transfer of technology from Sweden will be easier. Sales in China will increase because it is a Chinese owned company and the government will be less restrictive on how the company is treated.China wants the engineering know how! It is cheaper to buy it then to steal it in this case. Volvo is one the world leaders when it comes to safety, both of the passengers and those out side of the car.
In short this is good news for Volvo, bad news for GMC who was counting on increasing market share in China. Now GMC will have a more difficult time competing because the Chinese government does not need the technology from GM and Volvo's is better.4. Says: Volvo hasnt been volvo in a while. Ford owned them and now ford is selling the brand to a chinese company. still called volvo and considered sweedish, as much as an american owned, now chinese company can be.
sure Ford will make a buck or 2.5. Says: The chinese are the new industrial giants. They stand as good a chance as anybody at making money.6. Says: Why would you be concerned about it? Who knows? Tag: Volvo now belongs to the Chinese?
