Nissan Troubleshooting? My brake lights stay on even when the car is off?
(2010-09-20 14:10:07) 1. Says: I have a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder. It's in very good condition for an older car, I've had it for about 9 months and until now no major problems. The most bizarre thing happened late last night though, my dad noticed that the car was sitting in the driveway and the brake lights were on. No other lights in the car were on, the keys were not in the ignition, and the brake pedal was not jammed or anything. He fiddled around with it for awhile, and he says he doesn't know what he did, but he got the brake lights to turn off.
But just a few minutes ago, my mom pointed out that the car's brake lights were on again! The car hasn't been driven or messed with all day and we can't figure out how to turn them off. Is this a common glitch or symptom with Nissan cars, or does it just sound like a weird electrical problem? Help!
Note: The red security light next to the steering wheel is also blinking. I don't know if this has to do with it -- are the brake lights a sign that the car has been tampered with?2. Says: replace the brake light switch, it's on top of the brake pedal up under the dash.3. Says: the brake light switch needs replaced, no adjustments!4. Says: brake light switch needs adjusting.
