How do i get my VW GTI out of Limp Mode or Safe Mode?
(2010-05-27 16:41:54) 1. Says: My gti's EPC light came on and the car went into limp mode. I have no power and the car shudders after approx 4000 RPMS. Any suggestions besides take it to a dealer and have it scanned? Has anyone had similar problems what was your fix?2. Says: You can disconnect the battery for 15 minutes or so; this will clear the back up memory in the ECU and the vehicle should start without either the check engine light or EPC light on. However, if the problem still exists (sometimes just clearing the memory out will reset a temporary fault), the light will return and you'll have no choice but to have the system scanned to help assist in determining the cause of the fault. I suspect since you have a power problem that this won't help, but every so often this may do the correction you seek.Hope this helps, wishing you luck, a car nut.3. Says: If the light is flashing there may be a misfire and you can quickly damage the catalytic converter. The ignition coils are a very common problem on these vehicles. A scan by an independent shop should be able to tell you if it is a misfire code and what cylinder is the culprit. In most cases all the coils are the same age so you should consider replacing them all. Tag: How do i get my VW GTI out of Limp Mode or Safe Mode?
