2004 - TSX - Calipers stuck in closed position?

(2010-09-28 14:10:13)
1. Hooubis Says: My calipers are stuck in closed position causing my car to basically drag itself. Has this happened to anyone? Any advice on how to get it unstuck myself? I tried C-clamps but no go. I even tried releasing the bleeder while using the clamps and still unable to release it. I ordered used calipers but now have to face taking it off of the rotor. Any ideas?
2. thebax2006 Says: If the rear calipers have the parking brake cable attached to them the pistons need to be "screwed" back in. There are special tools made to do this however a good water pump pliers will work if you are careful not to tear the piston boot. They always screw in clockwise when looking at them from the open piston direction. There are some vehicles that have an electric activated parking brake. They need to be hot wired so the motor in the caliper turns the piston back in. Reverse the wires if the piston moves out.
If the front caliper pistons don't go back in with a large C-clamp they are frozen and junk. replace them.
3. mobilmen59 Says: Are they not the type that you have to screw back in?
