My bmw is overheating!!?

1. lothar_matias Says: i have a 81 bmw 320i that has recently been towed off the road because it overheated very rapidly and all the way to the maximum, so i didnt want to damage anything and stopped the engine right away. the weather was not hot at all and it had already overheated a couple of times in the past month but not ever reaching more than 3/4 of the temp gauge. yesterday i noticed there was some smoke coming out of my exhaust every time i would accelerate on the highway and now it overheats as soon as i drive it one mile. someone with knowledge of cars or even better with knowledge of old bimmers please help me, i am trying to get it fixed this weekend...
thank you in advance!
2. Hank Scorpio Says: Don't listen to the above. Basically what you have is a problem with a blown head gasket. Might as well replace the engine in this car with something more modern. When you keep overheating an engine it's almost guaranteed to warp internals (and maybe the block and head themselves).
3. leah mahar Says: Whens the last time your air filter was changed. Without proper airflow your engine will overheat very rapidly, Even mice could have crawled into your air intake and died. Did you check your engine coolant and radiator?
