2. don r Says: It's more than just inaction that freezes a motor. Usually the situation is brought on by water leaking into a cylinder and rusting the piston rings to the cylinder. If the engine is in good condition you could leave it for years and it wouldn't freeze. One with a bad head gasket or head cracks might rust stuck in a few months.

3. tvl Says: Packing forwarding of automobiles is a big headache for the manufacturers. A vehicle may go to Middle east blazing at 55 deg Centigrade in shade to minus 15 deg Centigrade in Russia.
Specific standards are developed for each consignee and executed.
Additionally unpacking and Pre-delivery procedures are developed for each destination.
Over and above this, the Logistics department personnel do move to each point of loading and study the actual condition of handling of the vehicle and make course correction. For example the Manufacturer's delivery yard, Port of Loading the consignment, Port of Unloading, Dealer/Distributors stock yard, PDI process at the dealership and additionally a close monitoring of warranty claims to ascertain the nature of course corrections needed.
